'THE FIX' Falls Flat...
(FOX NEWS) – Facing mounting pressure to "fix" a provision of ObamaCare that forced millions of Americans to lose their existing health coverage, President Obama said Thursday that anyone whose coverage was canceled has up to a year to renew their old policies.
“I completely get how upsetting this could be for many Americans,” Obama said.
White House officials said they will send a letter to state insurance commissioners specifying that current plans sold to existing customers will not be considered out of compliance with the health care law in 2014.
That means insurance companies can’t drop current customers – at least, not for a year.
Part of the problem was that the law specified what needed to be covered, which was basically everything including the kitchen sink. For example, couples in their 60’s got canceled because their insurance did not have pre-natal coverage. Obama’s fix basically buys some time for millions of Americans in danger of being dropped by their provider.
“I am confident that by the time we look back on this next year, people are going to say, ‘this is working out well,’” Obama said.
