MERIDIAN -- More than 40 vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and commercial trucks have crashed on I-84 westbound near the Ten Mile Road exit, blocking the westbound lanes of the freeway.
Making matters worse, several separate crashes appear to be causing traffic problems on the eastbound side of the freeway as well.
Idaho State Police say at least 10 people have been transported to area hospitals with various injuries due to the crash. Up to 46 vehicles are thought to be involved.
Idaho State Police say the chain of events started as troopers were clearing an earlier crash around 9 a.m. Thursday. They say fog quickly obscured the roadway. That's when a passenger car tried to switch lanes, clipped another car and spun out. Officers say the passenger car was struck by a logging truck.
Several pictures tweeted from viewers to the KTVB Twitter account show a fully-loaded logging truck with what appears to be the twisted wreckage of a small car pinned underneath one of the rear axles. Read more via KTVB.com...
