President Obama will speak Friday about the Affordable Care Act’s effects “on the health, lives and pocketbooks of women and their families,” the White House said in his schedule.
Timed to coincide with Mother’s Day, which is on Sunday, the event comes also comes as House Republicans plan to vote next week on a bill to repeal the health care law.
The audience for the 2:40 p.m. event will include represenatives from women’s groups, including Planned Parenthood.
The event comes as some Democrats have voiced concerns that the implementation will be messy and problematic, a notion that Obama has challenged. “I think that any time you’re implementing something big, there’s going to be people who are nervous and anxious about is it going to get done, until it’s actually done,” he told reporters last week. “We’ve got a great team in place. We are pushing very hard to make sure that we’re hitting all the deadlines and the benchmarks.” Read more via Politico...
