GRIM VIDEO FOOTAGE -- MH17 wreckage still smoking as rescue crews scour for survivors *GRAPHIC*

(Live Leak) -- Emergency services continued to investigate the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, which was en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam, after it went down in eastern Ukraine on Thursday. Fragments and victims of the crash were found near Grabovo in Donetsk region, situated approximately 60 kilometres (37 miles) from the Russian border.

Some 298 people have been reported dead, 283 of which were passengers and an additional 15 crew members. A Malaysian Airlines official has said that passengers included 173 Dutch, 27 Australians, 44 Malaysians, 23, US citizens, 12 Indonesians, nine Britons, four Germans, three Filipinos, four Belgians, one New Zealander and one Canadian citizen. 

The plane was reportedly flying at an altitude of around 10,600 (34,700 feet) when ground control lost contact. It has not yet been confirmed how the plane was brought down.
