BREAKING: Strong earthquake strikes Pacific coast of Panama; 5.8 preliminary magnitude from @USGS

(CTV) -- Panama has been rattled by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake, the U.S. Geological Survey announced Wednesday morning.

The quake comes after Chile hit by 8.2 quake last night that killed six people and set off a seven-foot tall tsunami.

The Panama quake was centred around 64 kilometres south of David, Panama.
