(The Courant) -- State Police from the Bridgeport and Bethany barracks were working with the U.S. Secret ServiceFriday to find a silver 2014 Volkswagen Jetta believed to be driven by a man who made a threat against President Obama.
State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance confirmed that state police are working with the Secret Service.
Vance said he could not provide additional information.
"Information has been received by law enforcement regarding a potentially suspicious person and vehicle. We are working with our local law enforcement partners to determine the validity of the information provided," the Secret Service said in a statement.
No additional information was released from the Secret Service on the incident.
The president was scheduled to be in Rhode Island on Friday night for a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee event at a private home, according to his schedule. He is scheduled to leave Rhode Island later in the evening.
