ABC: Obama Cannot Recover From 2013 (Video)
(BIN) On This Week With George Stephanopoulos, ABC News political analyst and former George W Bush campaign strategist Matthew Dowd claimed that 2013 had been such a bad year for President Barack Obama that his presidency could not possibly recover.
“A year ago today he was winning a 50%-plus victory, first person since Eisenhower to win two terms over 50%, everything seemed so great,” Dowd said. “Ever since the start of the second administration, it’s all gone downhill. His presidency, in my view, and the credibility of his presidency and the relevancy of his presidency is dramatically in question today, and I think he can’t recover from it. No president has ever recovered at this point in his presidency.”
Political commentator Donna Brazile disagreed.
“He has three years to recover, I think he will have a rebound in 2014, especially if the economy continues to rebound,” she said. “The last five two-terms presidents have experienced problems in their fifth year.”
