WATCH: What happened in this classroom is EXACTLY why I quit teaching and went back Afghanistan

ALLEN WEST reports:

When I retired from the Army I taught high school for a year in Deerfield Beach, Florida. I went in with all the idealistic visions of making a difference, and for some that did happen. However, after one year I decided to volunteer as a civilian/military adviser to the Afghan National Army. I realized that being a high school teacher resembled being in a combat zone, and if that were the case I needed to be able to protect myself. The final straw was when I was heading to the track for practice — I was the track coach — and there were five young black boys beating down one. They had him on the ground and were kicking him in the head and body. I charged them and several ran away, except for one. That one decided to take a swing at me, and instincts kicked in from combatives training. The fella soon found himself in a front chokehold, and I remember him saying to me that he couldn’t breathe. That episode came to mind as I read this story.

As reported by Fox6Now, A confrontation between a student and a teacher–escalates to violence. A cell video records from the back of the classroom– as a 16-year-old is seen shoving his teacher. Eventually, punching him repeatedly in the head. The man falls to the ground as the teen keeps hitting him. The circumstances around the fight aren’t known. Police say the student was arrested at the school and faces possible charges of battery.
