SHTF ALERT: White House demands Congress investigate wiretapping by Obama

NEW YORK POST --

The White House on Sunday demanded congressional investigation of Barack Obama, a day after President Trump accused his predecessor of politically motivated eavesdropping.

Trump rocked Washington on Saturday, claiming – with no evidence – that Obama ordered his Trump Tower phones wiretapped during the 2016 election.

The White House doubled down on that accusation the following day, asking for a congressional probe.

“Reports concerning potentially politically motivated investigations immediately ahead of the 2016 election are very troubling,” according to a White House statement.

“President Donald J. Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committees exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.”

Obama denied he ordered any such wiretaps.
