Obama Holdovers Brag About “Resigning” From Fed Arts Committee… Just 1 Problem
CONSERVATIVE TRIBUNE reports:
Liberals have a serious problem with distorting the truth.
Case in point: the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, a group that caused a splash last week when its remaining members resigned last week en masse in the furor over President Donald Trump’s reaction to the Aug. 12 violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
If you were to just pay attention to the mainstream media you would think that this group had resigned over Trump’s so-called “racist” comments about the Charlottesville riots.
In fact, the committee had no business even being in operation in the first place, since it really opposed just about everything about Trump’s administration. According to The Washington Post, it consisted of members appointed by President Barack Obama, and some of its members resigned last fall after Trump’s upset victory in the presidential election.
And when comedian Kal Penn posted a copy of the committee’s letter to Twitter, it contained a message of resistance to the president’s policies, ranging from his budget to relations with Cuba.
However, the committee and the leftist media left out some pretty significant information regarding the committee, and it needs to be known — if for no other reason than to expose how the left constantly manipulates the facts.
The committee might have resigned but it was already headed out the door. This particular group of members had never even met with Trump since he took office, according to the Independent Journal Review.
That’s right. This group — created by President Ronald Reagan in 1982 specifically to advise the president about the arts — felt so strongly about an issue that it issued a pretentious letter of resignation, even thought it actually does so little that it has never even met the man it’s supposed to be advising. The arrogance is hard to believe.
In response to Penn’s letter, the White House released a statement explaining how Trump had already intended to disband the committee later this year.
“Earlier this month it was decided that President Trump will not renew the Executive Order for the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH), which expires later this year. While the Committee has done good work in the past, in its current form it simply is not a responsible way to spend American tax dollars,” the statement said, according to CBS News.
Nice try, liberals. They not only tried to make it look like they were resigning over Trump’s statements, they politicized a tragedy to do so.
Let all of the left-wing, Trump-hating members of bloated government committees resign. The more of them, the better. With the majority of them gone, we can know that they won’t be wasting taxpayer dollars with ridiculous programs.
