Fox News' Hannity and Carlson Draw Battle Lines, Say NBC Waging 'Corporate Jihad' Against Trump

If there was any question that the election of President Trump shook up the national media environment, Tuesday night's political programming provided the answer.

Things began with MSNBC host Rachel Maddow's much-hyped release of the president's 2005 tax returns — a report that, ultimately, even Trump's critics admitted, painted him in a positive light.

For Fox News' Sean Hannity, however, the MSNBC report was a clear sign of something else: proof that parent company NBC News is waging a “political jihad” against the president:

Referring to Maddow as a figurehead “of the alt-left, propaganda, destroy-Trump-at-all-costs media,” Hannity said Tuesday night:

“NBC News in particular is on a political jihad against Trump and his administration. We have hit a new low in terms of privacy as we know it here in our country.”

Claiming that Trump's tax returns — which journalist David Cay Johnston said he found in his mailbox — were likely leaked by “Obama deep-state, shadow government-holdover saboteurs,” Hannity added:

“What we’re seeing now is becoming far worse. Now it's a clear and present danger that has emerged and it’s threatening our democracy and the will of the people ...

These saboteurs, they’re trying to prevent the president from doing the job that you, the American people, elected him to do."

Interestingly enough, Hannity wasn't the only Fox News host Tuesday night to accuse NBC News, in particular, of working to bring down President Trump:

Tucker Carlson also ripped into the network, but suggested NBC had been “intentionally” working against Trump since as early as campaign season.
