Defense Secretary Mattis asked what keeps him up at night; his answer just BROKE the internet

by Matt Palumbo, AllenBWest.com

Prior to becoming President Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense, James “Mad Dog” Mattis had built a reputation for himself as one of the most revered Marines in a generation. Among his most quoteable comments that exemplify the reputation he’s built for himself include:

– “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”
– “No war is over until the enemy says it’s over. We may think it over, we may declare it over, but in fact, the enemy gets a vote.”
– You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.”
– “I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.”

He doesn’t give the impression that he has a single fear in the world – but was posed a question in an interview this morning on CBS’ “Face the Nation” that attempted to pry into a softer side of Mattis.
“What keeps you awake at night?” host John Dickerson asked.

Without hesitation, Mattis replied “Nothing. I keep other people awake at night.”

Exactly the response you’d want to hear form a Secretary of Defense – and the internet responded accordingly…

A memorable quote for sure – and one that is unlikely to be his last.
