2 dead following shooting at North Lake College in Texas police confirm

Two people have been killed in a shooting at North Lake College, northwest of Dallas, Texas, police have confirmed. It’s understood the gunman is one of the those killed.

The campus is on “intruder lockdown,” and those who are not on campus have been advised to stay away.

According to North Lake College’s Facebook page, students are advised to “proceed with others to the nearest room and barricade and/or lock yourselves in the room,” and await further instruction from police.

Irving Police confirmed shots were fired on the campus just before noon, local time, according to media reports.

According to the Irving Independent School District, nearby schools, Singley Academy and MacArthur High School are also on lockdown as a precaution.

CBS DFW reports police said a white male with a buzz cut and wearing an orange tank top was seen on surveillance video with a handgun.

Footage from the scene shows rows of students being evacuated from buildings with their hands behind their heads.
