Sheriff's Dept. Considers Charging Trump With 'Inciting Riot'
City prepared to blame presidential frontrunner for skirmish
Police in North Carolina are weighing whether to press charges against billionaire Donald Trump after a supporter at one of his rallies sucker punched a protester.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s office said they were looking at charging the businessman with “inciting a riot” after a 78-year-old Trump supporter coldcocked a protester being escorted by police from the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville.
“A Linden man was later charged in the incident, and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigators said Monday that they are considering filing a charge of inciting a riot against Trump,” reports WRAL.
Trump said over the weekend his team was “looking into” paying for his supporter’s legal fees, stating on Sunday’s Meet the Press, “I’ve actually instructed my people to look into it, yes.”
