REPORT: 6 Million Foreigners Have “Overstayed” Their Visas… Here’s How Many DHS Are Investigating
Craig C. Healy, assistant directory for national security investigations at the Department of Homeland Security, admitted during a congressional hearing that DHS is actively investigating only .05 percent of the six million foreigners who have overstayed their visas and remain in the U.S. illegally.
“Roughly, we have about 3,000 that are still under investigation right now,” Healy said at the Senate Immigration Subcommittee meeting this Wednesday. “1,626 leads have been what we call exhausted, meaning that we haven’t been able to locate the individual. It comes back to us, into a continuous monitoring status.”
Healy also admitted that 40 percent of all illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States entered the country legally under a visa that later expired.
“We have a monumental issue here,” subcommittee member Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., said in regard to these revelations. “Even if we were to put biometric in, and have all of the 100 percent accurate information on exit, we’ve got this huge, built-up issue.”
Simply put, the government’s colossal incompetence has caused illegal immigration to fester and reach an unprecedented level.
