Politician’s Gruesome Proposal to Keep Muslims From Crossing Border Shocks Media
A Hungarian politician desperate to prevent more Muslims from illegally crossing into his country suggested on Monday that perhaps pig heads should be erected on the border fence to scare away migrants.
According to Fox News, Gyorgy Schopflin, a member of the ruling Hungarian Fidesz party, issued the suggestion in response to criticism lodged by Andrew Stroehlein, the director of Human Rights Watch, over the way Hungary has been using eerie masks made out of vegetables to deter migrants.
“Refugees are fleeing war and torture, Hungary,” Stroehlein wrote on Twitter. “Your root vegetable heads will not deter them.”
“Human images are haram,” or unclean to Muslims, Schopflin wrote back. “But agree, pig’s head would deter more effectively.”
