Obama Tells People “Happy Holidays,” Trump Goes to Rally and Belts Out Huge “Merry Christmas”
Last Friday, President Barack Obama and his family sent their final White House “Christmas” card to friends, supporters and members of the media, and not shockingly, the card contained zero references to Christmas itself.
Instead it featured a “Happy Holidays” message, according to the New York Post.
“Happy holidays,” the card read. “As our family reflects on our many happy years spent in the White House, we are grateful for the friends we’ve made, the joy we’ve shared and the gifts of kindness we’ve received. We wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season and a wonderful new year.”
Enter President-elect Donald Trump, who has struck back against the outgoing president’s nauseating political correctness by announcing to his supporters on Facebook that it was time for the American to start wishing each other “Merry Christmas” again:
Trump then wished all his supporters Tuesday night at the Wisconsin leg of his ‘Thank You” tour a heartfelt “Merry Christmas.”
“So when I started 18 months ago, I told my first crowd in Wisconsin that we are going to come back here someday and we are going to say Merry Christmas again,” he said. “Merry Christmas. So, Merry Christmas everyone. Happy New Year, but Merry Christmas.”
After eight years of Christmas being relegated to the back burner, it appeared ready to make a reemergence on the national stage. But this issue went way beyond Obama merely refusing to say “Merry Christmas.”
The Daily Wire identified three additional ways in which Christmas has been marginalized during the president’s tenure: “Nativity scenes have been removed from public places … Overt signs of Christianity have come under assault … The generic term “Happy Holidays,” instead of saying “Merry Christmas” or even “Happy Chanukah” has become ubiquitous, rendering the simple traditional greeting socially awkward for fear of offending someone’s tender feelings.”
This sad and dismal world was what Obama had wrought, but thanks to President-elect Donald Trump, it was finally approaching a sweet and much-desired end.
With that said, MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all.
