Julian Assange Exposes Bill Maher During An Episode Of ‘Real Time’
Friday’s episode of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher featured WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, with Maher wanting to know more about the emails from the Democratic National Committee that WikiLeaks released last month just prior to the party’s convention..
Assange — who appeared via satellite from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London — discussed with Maher the various DNC emails that were leaked to the public, which showed leaders of Democrat party were actively trying to work against Sen. Bernie Sanders in his battle against HIllary Clinton to win the party’s nomination.
The publicity surrounding the leak prompted party chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign her position with the DNC. A handful of other staffers have since resigned.
Maher said he didn’t believe there was any information released that would be considered a “smoking gun” or “gotcha” moment for exposing corruption within the DNC. But Assange shot back, describing an email sent from Louis Miranda who instructed his fellow Democrats to try and pin campaign violence against Sanders supporters in a covert manner.
The HBO host didn’t seem happy with the response and asked why WikiLeaks hadn’t released anything on Donald Trump’s campaign.
