Ivanka Trump meeting with Al Gore to discuss “climate change”...
Ivanka Trump will meet with former Vice President Al Gore Monday to discuss climate change, an adviser to President-elect Donald Trump said today.
The incoming first daughter has identified climate change as an issue she would like to focus on, POLITICO reported last week. Ivanka, 35, is poised to become among the most powerful first daughters in history.
Transition spokesman Jason Miller announced the meeting on this morning’s daily conference call. Donald Trump will not participate in the meeting, Miller said.
Miller also said Donald Trump supports construction of the Dakota Access pipeline and will review the Obama administration’s decision to halt the project once he takes office.
The president-elect has called climate change a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese to damage U.S. businesses. Gore has been one of the most visible climate activists in the country since being featured in a 2006 documentary about his efforts to educate the public on how carbon dioxide emissions are contributing to global warming.
Ivanka Trump is meeting Monday with climate change activist and former Vice President Al Gore.
The president-elect’s daughter, who reportedly wants to make global warming one of her signature issues, will meet with Gore at Trump Tower in Manhattan, according to transition spokesman Jason Miller.
The former vice president will not be meeting with the president-elect, Miller said in a conference call with reporters on Monday morning.
He would not elaborate on the contents of the meeting.
Ivanka has close ties to influential Democrats, and she has supported causes traditionally more dear to the left than to conservatives, including pushing her father to support child care and paid family leave policies.
Three of Trump’s adult children — Ivanka, Don Jr. and Eric — are serving as advisers to the transition team. Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband, is also serving as a transition adviser.
