Intel Indicates Islamic State Has Gotten Weapon We All Feared… This Is a Game Changer
The intelligence community has long warned that the Islamic State group’s ultimate goal is to be able to produce, and use, chemical weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
Now, Fox News has reported on growing evidence that the Islamic State group has been deploying chemical weapons on the battlefield in Iraq and Syria as a way of testing how effective the weapons are.
The number of foreign recruits joining the Islamic State group is at an all time high, giving the militants a greater chance of recruiting a chemist who could make or enhance chemical weapons for them.
Footage taken by the Kurdish fighters last summer showed burns and blistering on the skin that were very similar to the effects of being exposed to chemical weapons.
“I think it’s, could be a perfect testing ground,” Timothy Gil Sr., a former FBI intelligence officer, said of the Islamic State group. “They were particularly interested in using these chemicals in confined space environments, soft targets like shopping malls and movie theaters.”
