I haven’t weighed in on Beyonce’s Super Bowl show yet, but this MUST be said…

by Allen West

I’ve shared with y’all previously the story about my older brother, Herman West, Jr., who returned from Vietnam with one goal — to become an Atlanta police officer. I told you how proud I was when my older brother would drive his cruiser up to 651 Kennesaw Ave. and stop to say hi to us when he had a moment from patrol duty. I would brag, that’s my brother. I was proud of “Pootney,” as he’s affectionately called, because he served his nation in uniform as a combat Marine Infantryman in Southeast Asia and then on the streets of our hometown.

And so I have a deep affection for the men and women of the “Thin Blue Line.” Now, every profession has its share of jerks, law enforcement included, but this all-out assault on our law enforcement officers has me steamed.

As Fox News reports:

A Fargo police officer fatally shot responding to a routine domestic disturbance call. A 25-year police veteran killed while trying to serve a warrant outside Atlanta. These are just the latest tragedies of cops murdered while performing their sworn duty — “to protect and serve.”

But while President Obama and the Democratic candidates vying to succeed him are putting America’s police departments on trial in the court of public opinion in response to a rash of deadly police shootings, the murder of police officers on America’s streets is being met with a “deafening silence.”

“I cannot recall any time in recent years when six law enforcement professionals have been murdered by gunfire in multiple incidents in a single week,” National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund CEO Craig W. Floyd said in a statement Friday. “Already this year there have been eight officers shot and killed, compared to just one during the same period last year and represents a very troubling trend.”

The relative silence on officer deaths contrasts with the Democratic candidates’ often fiery language on police brutality against African Americans. When it came to the issue of law enforcement at Thursday night’s Democratic debate, the candidates focused almost exclusively on “police reform.” Vermont Sen. Sanders said he’s “sick and tired” of seeing unarmed black people shot by police, likening heavily equipped departments to “occupying armies” – a reference to Ferguson, Mo. and elsewhere. Hillary Clinton hit similar points.

When I was a member of Congress, I went out with the local police departments in South Florida — and I chose night shifts. I wanted to see what they experienced so I could be an even better voice for them. I went to shooting ranges and SWAT training with them. And now, even out of office, I’m hoping to get a chance to do a night patrol with the Dallas PD or local law enforcement in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.

See, I think loudmouth wussies like Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, who’ve lived their lives being protected by men and women in uniform, need to strap on body armor and get out there. When you have walked that walk, then you can talk all the smack you desire. However, what’s happening with the new Socialist party is that they’ll do and say anything to foment racial division and unrest — all for electoral gain and patronage. It’s utterly irresponsible for Bernie Sanders to say he’s “sick and tired of seeing unarmed black people shot by the police.” His is an extremist, over-the-top hyperbolic statement. Furthermore, where is his same outrage when the loved ones of our men and women in blue get that notice that their Guardian is not coming home?

I’m sick and tired of the progressive socialist hypocrisy. The failing policies of the leftist socialists have created the hell we see in our inner cities, and they have absolutely no shame in not accepting that guilt. Instead, the honorable men and women seeking to “serve and protect” — and bring about domestic tranquility and peace in these turbulent neighborhoods — are being demonized.

We have Democrats like the chucklehead mayor of Philadelphia, who was more adamant about ensuring we didn’t categorize the Islamic jihadist shooting of a police officer as being a result of Islamic jihadism. He ranted on and on about that with little outrage over the fact that some jihadi jackass had just tried to assassinate one of his police officers. We have Barack Obama cutting funding for the UASI program, which we shared with you earlier this week.

And when did we EVER hear former Attorney General Eric Holder or current one Loretta Lynch express indignation over the verbal assaults and physical assaults on our law enforcement? Heck, Lynch swore she would use her power to prosecute anyone using offensive language against Muslims. What about offensive language against out law enforcement? And I can’t remember President Obama coming out and standing with law enforcement officers and demanding that this denigrating and disparaging tone towards them ends.

Now, I personally haven’t yet weighed in on the Beyonce Super Bowl halftime show. Frankly, the whole thing sucked if you ask me. For the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl, it was rather disappointing, but University of Tennessee alum Petyton Manning and the Denver Broncos won.

But consider this: why would we have on a national stage a tribute to a domestic terrorist group? A group that targeted our law enforcement officers — you know, the ones who were guarding the Super Bowl halftime show so they could be disparaged and, in essence, spat upon.

This has to end, and I pray my brothers and sisters in law enforcement know who stands with them. I recall sitting before the law enforcement unions here in South Florida for endorsements. One group would always say, “Hey Colonel, you know we love you but our national union will never allow us to endorse you.” The other, the Fraternal Order of Police, well, I was proud to have their endorsement.

This is what I’m here to tell y’all: stop the political bovine excrement. Folks like Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are not going to support and defend our nation’s proud law enforcement officers.

Y’all got a serious time for choosing coming in November. But ya ain’t gotta worry, this ol’ Paratrooper got yer six covered!
