HE’S BACK: Clock Boy Gives Texas School Bad News
The 14-year-old boy who was was arrested last year for bringing a home-made clock into school is again making headlines.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Ahmed Mohamed’s family has just filed a lawsuit against the Texas school district, Ahmed’s former principal, and the city of Irving, claiming violation of the boy’s rights.
Last year, Ahmed brought a homemade clock into his school, but was arrested with possession of a hoax bomb. Later, the charges were dropped, but Ahmed was still suspended for three days.
The school’s actions caused an uproar on social media.
And, according to The Washington Post, President Barack Obama even gave his opinion on Twitter, telling the boy: “We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It’s what makes America great.”
Since the incident, Ahmed’s family has moved to Qatar. They said that the family received threats and Ahmed was offered a scholarship in the Persian Gulf Country
