Female Flight Attendants Defy Muslims, Send Blunt Message to Quran-Obeying Nations

Conservative Tribune

As a result of the nuclear deal with Iran and the lifting of some international sanctions, Air France is preparing to resume direct flights from Paris to Tehran for the first time since 2008.

The unique nature of the destination has compelled the airline to order its female flight crew members to make changes to their standard uniform in accommodation of their hosts, changes some flight attendants are balking at, according to The U.K. Telegraph.

Female crew on Air France flights to Iran have been told to wear pants and a long jacket instead of their standard skirt and short jacket, as well as a head scarf covering their hair, to be in accordance with the Islamic Republic’s rules.

But many of the attendants view being forced to wear a head covering as an affront to their dignity and free expression and have demanded that the flights to Tehran be made voluntary, with no sort of punishment for those female crew members who choose not to make the trip to the strict Islamic regime.

“It is not our role to pass judgement on the wearing of headscarves or veils in Iran. What we are denouncing is that it is being made compulsory. Stewardesses must be given the right to refuse these flights,” declared Flore Arrighi, head of the UNAC flight crews’ union.

She added that female crew members must be permitted to exercise their “individual freedoms.”

Her words were echoed by a representative of another another flight crews’ union, the SNPNC, with Christophe Pillet stating: “Female staff do not wish to have dress regulations imposed on them, especially the obligation to wear an Air France scarf that completely covers their hair as soon as they leave the plane.”

He added that he has received numerous calls from concerned crew members who don’t want to wear the headscarves. His organization has also asked for the flights to be made voluntary.

Unfortunately for them, it appears thus far that Air France is siding with Iran and its customs over its own employees’ wishes, as they told news agency AFP that all crew members were “obliged like other foreign visitors to respect the laws of the countries to which they traveled.”

It remains to be seen if Air France will continue to submit to the dehumanizing and misogynistic practices of a Shariah-practicing Muslim nation, or if they will respect the rights and wishes of their own female flight crew members.
