Donald Trump to Muslim Father Who Shamed Him at DNC: “I’ve Made a Lot of Sacrifices”
Many of the Hillary Clinton Supporters watching the Democratic National Convention were overjoyed by the speech give by a father who had lost his son in Iraq. Khizr Khan is the father of an American soldier killed in Iraq, and he is also a Muslim. His criticism of Donald Trump was one of the more poignant and brutal beatings the republican nominee received during the DNC. And now Trump has had some time to respond.
Khan, with his wife, Ghazala standing beside him, suggested that Trump should actually read the Constitution. He noted that his son, also a Muslim, had given his life for America. “You have sacrificed nothing and no one,” Khan said to Trump.
After, Trump’s spoke to the New York Times’ reporter Maureen Dowd. “I’d like to hear his wife say something,” he said.
The implication here is that she was silent because that’s the role Muslim women are forced to take. He expanded his view in a follow-up with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
