BREAKING: Obama Admin SHUTS DOWN Key Border Security Measures… Could Be Prepping Something MASSIVE
President Barack Obama has apparently decided to do everything he can to implement his progressive policies before President-elect Donald Trump takes office in January.
One of the most recent — and disturbing — moves by the Obama administration was the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to shut down Operation Phalanx, an aerial surveillance program that intercepts drugs and illegal crossings along the Mexican border, according to Watchdog.org.
The decision has faced bipartisan backlash from several top political leaders, including Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and Democrat Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, who have pointed out the dangers of decreased surveillance along the border.
The DHS actually began scaling back the program in January, according to Breitbart, which first prompted Abbott and Cuellar to speak out against the ill-advised move by Obama officials.
“Any decrease in aerial observation is not only imprudent, but contradicts the very mission of border security enforcement,” Abbott and Cuellar wrote in a joint letter to DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson in February. “In order to ensure we are doing everything possible to effectively secure the border, we request immediate information on the metrics used to determine that a 50 percent reduction in aerial resources would be sufficient to support this important border security operation.”
In fact, the two leaders asked DHS for “more surveillance and security resources, not fewer.”
Obama, Johnson and other officials at DHS apparently disregarded the legitimate concerns of the Texas policymakers and decided to completely close the much-needed program, despite it being fully funded for 2017.
Cuellar has already renewed his objections and has requested the support of other members of the Texas congressional delegation, including House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mike McCaul, Rep. John Carter, and Sen. John Cornyn, according to Watchdog.org.
The Texas governor also issued a scathing response to the decision on Twitter, suggesting that it was a purposeful move by the current administration to open the border as much as possible before Trump makes moves to secure it in January.
“Obama is doing everything he can to open the border,” Abbott tweeted on Friday. “January 20th can’t come soon enough.”
This may be the worst parting gift from Obama yet, and, unfortunately we still have two months before Trump can attempt to undo all of these massive mistakes.
