A report from Al Jazeera America indicates that Hillary Clinton might be grilled by FBI agents in a matter of days,
The revelation comes as the FBI says that it’s wrapping up its investigation into the former secretary of state over her private email server, interviewing close aides.
However, the Al Jazeera America report was one of the first indications that Hillary may be coming before the FBI’s top investigators in the case in the very near future.
“The FBI, led by Director James Comey, has now finished examining Clinton’s private emails and home server,” Al Jazeera America correspondent David Shuster said in his report.
“And the sources add that Comey’s FBI team has been joined by the Justice Department prosecutors. Together, they are now examining the evidence, analyzing relevant laws, and attempting to arrange interviews with key figures in the investigation.
“Because there is now every sign the Clinton email investigation is quickly headed towards a conclusion, whether it’s her exoneration or indictment,” he continued.
“In terms of timing, sources expect the conclusion to come in weeks, not months. And they add that Hillary Clinton’s interview with the FBI, which could come in days, could be crucial.”
Other top staffers who will be talking to the FBI include former State Department aide Philippe Reines and former Clinton Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills.
Shuster said that “officials expect Director Comey to make his recommendation to Attorney General Loretta Lynch about potential criminal charges.”
It’s no secret that the Clinton campaign thought that they would be done with this investigation by now. However, given what’s been going on of late, she’s going to be very lucky indeed if she escapes indictment. And even then, some people have speculated that the FBI could release their evidence against Clinton if Lynch decides against indictment — something that could be every bit as bad as an indictment.
