Anti-Gun Republican KILLS Open Carry Bill In THIS State… Let’s Drum Him Out Of Office Next Election
Republican State Sen. Miguel Diaz de la Portilla announced an end to the possibility of open carry in the state of Florida.
Telling reporters, “open carry is not going to happen; it’s done,” Portilla refused to allow a vote on the measure that would allow Floridians to obtain permits to carry handguns in the open.
Florida, a state with a considerable amount of crime, has been considering the open carry bill along with others that would allow open carry in airport terminals and college campuses, according to the Miami Herald.
But Diaz de la Portilla doesn’t think that the provision is necessary.
“They could result in unintended consequences. I think we need to prioritize in our committee, as far as what we hear. We can’t hear every bill that’s referred to us.”
The defense that law-abiding citizens who have passed background checks and been issued permits would create unintended consequences if allowed to exercise their Amendment rights is one usually coming from Democrats. For de la Portilla, a Republican, the commentary shows how much there is a wedge between establishment Republicans and freedom-loving conservatives.
