Warning to Parents: TEENS SUMMON DEMON IN TRENDING TWITTER GAME -- Youngsters freak out after asking 'Charlie, Charlie are you here?'
From rattling door knobs to broken mirrors, readers share their spooky stories as they try out the latest Twitter craze that's taken the internet by storm.
A terrifying new Twitter craze claims a simple ritual can be used to summon the spirit of a MEXICAN DEMON called Charlie – and our readers have shared some of their most horrifying experiences of the challenge.
Screams, whispers, broken mirrors and shaking bookshelves are just some of the super-spooky results of the ouija board-inspired game, which has prompted youngsters from across the world to claim they have communicated with a sombrero-wearing spook.
Our readers were asked to try out the game for themselves and see whether it really does work – with amazing results.
From rattling door handles to mysterious scratching noises, our readers have endured some terrifying experiences when trying to conjure the demon.
One reader even shares his unearthly encounter with a sinister man who has 'black and red eyes'.
The game, which involves placing two pencils on a piece of paper in the shape of a cross, requires users to write the words "yes" and "no" inside the four squares formed by the pencils.
Brave (or gullible) participants must then repeat the words: "Charlie, Charlie are you here?"
If the pencil moves and points to "yes", Charlie is in the house and you can draw upon his demonic life experience and ask him for guidance in the form of yes/no questions.
Hannah Mckinley got in touch to say that nothing happened at first when she tried out the challenge – but then, five minutes later, she heard "a scream from a distance".
Hannah, from Valencia in Spain, said: "Then my mirror slightly cracked. I get scared and ran into my sister's room and her bookshelf tumbled. I am really afraid and terrified of what is about to happen."
Dakota Hasler had an even more horrifying experience when she asked "Charlie" if she would die tonight.
She admitted that she thought the task was "stupid" at first – but ended up in complete fear and shock when the pencil landed on "yes".
Even spookier things happened as Dakota, from Brownsville in New York, walked away to do the dishes.
"I started to hear noises coming from my room," she said.
"When I walked in the room my bible was on the ground faced down. I told myself it was just the cat. But then I remember my my mom took the cat to the vet. And so I said: 'Forget the dishes, I'll do them tomorrow. Then I heard a whisper coming from the living room."
A reader in Buckinghamshire had an equally eerie experience when she suffered a power cut.
Aneeqa Saghir said: "When we asked Charlie and anybody else in the room to turn my tablet screen on all of a sudden my laptop was turned on (it was shut down with the lid and screen still visible) and when we asked if it would leave us alone afterwards the pencil suddenly spun to no (no windows were open or anything and it was 10pm)."
Aneeqa then asked Charlie if he would kill her – and he answered YES.
She added: "After a long while of creepy stuff happening me and my friends all said goodbye to Charlie and all other beings in the house. But then when I wasn't with my friends anymore all the lights and everything switched off.
"I got even more freaked out because power cuts rarely ever happen in my area and when I looked outside the window the lights on the rest of the houses on my street were all on. So I decided to call my parents and my phone died."
Spooked-out Aneeqa had a warning to others thinking of trying it out: "So, think again if you're going to do the Charlie Charlie Challenge."
Zodyy Lanae had an equally scary message for others thinking of doing the challenge.
Freaked-out Zodyy said he felt an "uneasy presence and a burning sensation on my hand, back and lower leg" when he tried out the task.
When he returned home later that day, after doing the challenge in a shed with a few friends, he found the doors locked.
"We we felt like we were surrounded by evil and were being watched," he said.
Zodyy said he heard one of his friends "screaming horribly" when they saw something in the cupboard.
Terrified Zody said he then saw a "man figure at the top of the steps with black and red eyes".
Zodyy, from Texas in the US, concludes: "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS CHALLENGE!!!!!!!"
Here's a more pessimistic view on this whole thing...
