Snow falls in Sierra 1 day after Obama says lowest snow pack in 500 years
Mammoth Mountain Ski Area recently received an early winter surprise when at least half an inch of snow fell at the top of the mountain.
“It was a solid dusting, but there was no substantial accumulation,” Lauren Burke, public relations manager, said on Tuesday. “It was about 2 p.m. when it started snowing, and it was still looking pretty white when I left at 4 p.m. yesterday.
“We’re not exactly sure how much snow we got, but it was definitely a nice surprise in early September,” she said.
