San Diego flights grounded over fears active shooter with 'high-powered' rifle may shoot down planes
Flights are not being allowed to land at San Diego International Airport because of an active shooter at a nearby apartment complex.
Police say the man has been firing sporadically inside an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Brant Street, in an upscale neighborhood near Little Italy between the airport and Balboa Park.
So far, no one has been reported hurt.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the complex is under the airport’s approach path. He says departures are being allowed.
Lt. Scott Wahl says officers responding to a domestic violence call heard gunshots at the complex shortly after 9 a.m.
