Incompetent DC Police Chief Doesn’t Care If Her Officers Don’t Like Her [VIDEO]

By Josh Fatzick for The Daily Caller

Last week police in the District of Columbia overwhelmingly voted “no confidence” in their boss, Chief Cathy Lanier, but Lanier seems completely unconcerned with the vote.

“I am not interested in responding to or commenting on the anonymous online survey conducted by the Fraternal Order of Police. But I will defend the work of the members of this agency,” Lanier said in a statement.

Union members were upset with recent changes Lanier made to tactics used by narcotics officers, saying the changes led to the increase in violence the city is currently experiencing.

RAW VIDEO: DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier on high-capacity guns in murder spike -- Emily Miller. the Chief Investigative Reporter at Fox 5 DC, asks the chief to back up that claim. DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier said that one of the main causes for the spike in murders this year is an increase in guns with high-capacity magazines. I looked into the chief’s claim and found that the police department does not track the magazine capacity for seized guns. Miller asked Lanier for data to back up her claim at a press conference last week on illegal guns hosted by the chief and Mayor Muriel Bowser. This is the raw video of Miller asking the chief about it: Miller: Chief, what data are you using to determine high-capacity magazines? You’re referred to them several times. Lanier: So I’m talking about 100 round drum magazines. That would be high capacity. Miller: But what are you using? what data?Lanier: Well 100 round drum magazines. Miller: How many have you found of those? Lanier: Extended clips that are designed to enhance the normal capacity of a firearm.Miller: How many of those have you found? Lanier: So high-capacity magazines are magazines designed to enhance the normal capacity of a firearm. Miller: Well in D.C., over 10 rounds is “high capacity,” but your department doesn't trace what kind of magazine size a gun has. So I’m saying, when you say “high capacity,” where are you getting that information?Lanier: From the guns that we recover. There have been 103 people killed so far this year in Washington, which is a 43 percent increase over 2014. Lanier hosted a meeting earlier this month with other big city police chiefs. After the meeting, she called for stricter gun laws and penalties for guns with high-capacity magazines. ####
