Donald Trump’s Lead Over GOP Primary Field Is Shrinking
Republican presidential candidate Donald’s Trump lead over his Republican primary opponents is shrinking, recent polls show.
His numbers dropped sharply following the second GOP debate, while Carly Fiorina surged and former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio saw a boost. The gap between Trump and no. 2 Ben Carson has fallen from 16 points before the second debate to an average of just six points.
Trump’s initial lead on the field increased following the first debate, when he was up about 12 points on Jeb Bush in his national polling average. In a series of eight national polls following the first debate, he led the pack by as many as 16 points, and his lead fell below 10 percent in only one poll.
