Cop lured from patrol car, ambushed, beaten on film
In Sacramento, California, police now must protect and serve while perpetually planning for an ambush.
Juan Gomez, 21, and Jamaral Lee, 35, both face charges linked to an attack on an unidentified cop Monday morning.
Gomez faces felony charges for allegedly luring a cop out of his patrol vehicle in a Kaiser South Medical Center parking lot before beating him, and Lee faces a felony charge of advocacy of killing a peace officer for allegedly videotaping and encouraging the crime.
“The man had told the officer that there was someone in the area with a gun. He immediately and violently attacked the officer,” Sacramento Police spokesman Doug Morse told CBS-13 on Wednesday. “The attack continued when that individual actually jumped on that officer and continued to strike him in the face.”
Security guards and bystanders stopped the attack and then rushed the officer into the hospital.
