Chris Kyle's Wife Outshoots NRA Champion Marksman Bruce Piatt
The competition was Kyle’s first attempt at professional shooting as she demonstrated how a high-tech rifle can turn a novice into a world-class sharpshooter. Kyle was using a TrackingPoint’s Precision-Guided M600 and M800 firearm against the skill and experience of Piatt, who was using traditional military rifles, such as the M4A1, M110, and M2010.
TrackingPoint boats up to 87 percent success with the first shot up to 600 yards and claims its firearms can transform inexperienced shooters into champion marksmen. To prove its claim, the company put up $1 million for the competition. If Piatt could outshoot Kyle, he would win the money.
The results were remarkable: Kyle made 100 percent of her shots, including a 2,100-yard shot.
The American Sniper Shootout was not like traditional shooting competitions in that the environment was created to imitate the layout of Sadr City, where Chris Kyle made a 2,100-yard shot on an enemy militant.
