BREAKING: Leaked Document Exposes Obama’s Secret Plan to Defy Federal Court Order
President Barack Obama has proven that he doesn’t care about Congress, using a pen and a phone to try to circumvent a co-equal branch of government. Now, according to a leaked document from the Department of Homeland Security, the Obama White House is going to try to use those tactics to overcome the third branch of government, too.
An op-ed published by The Hill on Tuesday reported that a DHS memo produced during “an off-the-record agency conclave” revealed the administration planned to ignore the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals’ injunction on a major part of Obama’s executive actions on illegal immigration and issue work documents to illegal immigrants.
The memo dated from June, four months after Fifth Circuit Court Judge Andrew Hanen put a stop on several key portions of the executive actions, especially relating to the issuance of work permits.
The document discussed “different options” for “open market Employment Authorization Document (EAD) regulatory changes.” EAD is the legal term for working papers.
Four options were explicitly discussed, ranging from a truly shocking initiative that would give EADs to “all individuals living in the United States” no matter how they arrived here, to the most restrictive option, which would only give EADs to those on “certain unexpired non-immigrant visas.”
It’s worth pointing out that any of these options would be against the Immigration & Nationality Act, and likely in contravention of Judge Hanen’s injunction.
In regard to the first option, the memo says that it would “address the needs of some of the intended deferred action population.”
